Our Field of Membership

Kirtland Federal Credit Union's mission is to exceed the financial service expectations of our members, principally those in the military and in organizations who support the defense of our nation.

Our Field of Membership includes military and civilian personnel assigned to Kirtland Air Force Base, U.S. Reserve Forces and members of the Air & Army National Guard throughout New Mexico, defense-related Select Employee Groups (SEGs), as well as military retirees and veterans who are eligible to join organizations such as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Family members are also eligible for KFCU membership.

KAFB Military Personnel / National Guard & Reserve Units

Active duty military personnel of the US Government stationed at or on temporary assignment at Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB). Civilian and military personnel, full time employees and attached federal military advisory personnel of the New Mexico Air National Guard , the New Mexico Army National Guard and the US Armed Forces Reserve units who are stationed in the state of New Mexico.

Retired Military and Others Receiving Benefits from KAFB

Persons who are eligible by law or regulation to receive, or are receiving, benefits or services from KAFB. (Examples would include military dependents or dependent survivors of retired military personnel.)

Base Contractors

Contractors and employees of contractors who work regularly at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM, under contract with the US Government.

Civil Service & Retired Civil Service

All civilian federal employees who work on KAFB with the exception of the direct employees of Sandia National Labs; Department of Energy (DOE) are eligible. Persons retired by the US Government or the NM National Guard as annuitants from KAFB who are eligible by law or regulation to receive and are receiving benefits or services from KAFB.

Family Members

Immediate family members of individuals qualifying for membership as outlined above.  That is to say, immediate family members of anyone otherwise in our Field of Membership (FOM) even if they have not elected to join KFCU. This list includes:

• Grandparents, grandparents in-law
• Parents, parents in-law
• Sisters, sisters in-law
• Brothers, brothers in-law
• Daughters, daughters in-law
• Sons, sons in-law
• Grandchildren
• Any relative living under the same roof as the member
• Any person living under the same roof on a permanent basis who share expenses
• The spouse of a person who died while in our Field of Membership

Organizations of persons within our Field of Membership.

Select Employee Groups

If you are an employee or member of one of the many companies or associations served by Kirtland Federal Credit Union, you are also eligible for membership. Please see our list of Select Employee Groups.
